Learning objectives
After participating in this program, GPs will be better able to:
- Distinguish between food intolerances and other common gastric presentations, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and chronic idiopathic constipation.
- Describe symptoms of IBS and be able to identify patients with specific subtypes of IBS.
- Recommend appropriate therapies for IBS and constipation, including over-the-counter and prescribed products, to improve patient outcomes and optimise safety
- Recognise when referral to a gastroenterologist is required
