Chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU), previously referred to as chronic idiopathic urticaria (CIU), can have a significant negative impact on daily activities and quality of life. Studies show that despite treatment guidelines, many patients are undertreated and fail to be escalated to the next appropriate step in therapy when their CSU symptoms are inadequately controlled with their current medication.
This program includes four modules. The first will review the patient burden and diagnosis of CSU. The second will review the treatment algorithm from 2018 International Guidelines, with a focus on the available treatment options and when to escalate therapy. The third case-based module will review a practical approach for treating patients unresponsive to licensed doses of antihistamines. The fourth cased-based module will review strategies for optimizing treatment of patients who fail second-line therapy.
