Insomnia is the most prevalent sleep disorder and affects a large portion of the Canadian population on a recurrent or chronic basis. Insomnia is associated with significant adverse health outcomes, including a reduction in quality of life, physical and psychological health. Although primary care clinicians commonly see these patients in their practice, some are unsure of the optimal method of insomnia management.
